Inspiration for our music video

Shot 1 of our music video is a close up of our actress Jessica playing the piano solo. We were inspired by Passenger's 'Let Her Go' music video opening. His song shares the same themes as our song 'What Now' by Rihanna; however, just a different genre of music. When we first watched 'Let Her Go' we felt that the close up of the instruments created a softening mood for the audience but we wanted to make sure it wasn't just uswho felt like this. We showed people the ten second clip and asked what sort of mood they felt they gained from it, here is the feedback,
"I personally love the song and the video I think the opening is good because it sets the romantic, soft mood for the song before it has even begun" -Sheliesa Stewart, 18
"I think it is the music that creates the romantic, pretty opening because from the tune we establish that it is going to be a love song about falling in love or breaking up. However, I think the close up of the instruments at the beginning does heighten the soft, love emotions in the audience." Zoe Panayioti, 18
Now we found out that everyone felt the soft mood Emma and I have decided to include it in our opening.

Researching into our artist we noticed how her and her music videos have changed. Today her music is far more dark and evil; however, the song we chose is about heart break and what she should do now so we decided to focus on her old music videos, specifically 'Unfaithful'

We noticed that similar to Passenger's 'Let Her Go' on the piano solo they have a close up of the piano being played.

Despite our research into romantic song videos we have decided to no longer include this opening because when we researched Rihanna's music videos we found her openings always include a close up of her. We have decided to follow this convention instead for our opening.
Here are a couple of examples of Rihanna's music video openings:

Rihanna - Stay.

Rihanna - Take a Bow
