Casting Notes and Location Reports

Jessica Obile-Okwu, 17

We have chosen to use this actress as she is new to drama however has had experienced performing in aspects of modelling for various local catwalks and so has the skills needed to have a particular stance and way of acting. Also in her younger years she used to have drama lessons and so has an understanding of how to act out certain scenes.

   Chuka Okechukwu, 17
 We have decided to use this actor for the male role because he has had previous experience acting in shows at Millfield Theatre. He has also attended a performing arts school for 2 years and has gained a lot of experience in acting with weekly lessons in acting. Also in the younger years had drama at school and so has extra experience in acting.

We have also decided to use extras in the making of the music video as we are going to need people for different scenes such as the boss shouting at the actress or people working in the office who she knows. We may also need extras for in the park scenes and we shall have dancers from Platinum Performing arts also in our music video.

 

Location Reports

Emma's House

We have chosen to use my house for shots 1-12 because when we were creating our storyboard we found it was easier to base the opening around somewhere we knew because we have a fast cutting rate and needed to know somewhere well enough to understand which shot comes next and where everything is. We think the bedroom is effective for the opening because it is exactly what we wanted for the video from the beginning. It is the ideal image we have had in our heads and we hope to portray it well in our music video. Advantages of using this location is:

• We have easy access to it.
• I know the location well enough for any last minute changes for example, thinking of another room to film that is also suitable.

Some disadvantages of this location is:


Enfield Town Park

We have picked Enfield Town Park as a set for when we explore her past with her boyfriend because we think it is a stereotypical scene with a couple to show their love and compassion. Plus, the park has nice scenery with the flowers and trees which will make a good shot.


 

School - St Anne's Catholic High School for Girls

Shots 27-28 will be filmed inside school because we think the Media Room portrays a stereotypical open office layout because of the Apple Macs and desks. In this shot she will be sitting at the end of the row agitated at work then receives an email from her boss telling her to go to her office immediately (we hope to use our Head of Sixth Form's office) to film the shot her being fired. Plus this space has very grave and dimly coloured walls which symbolised the life which has been drained out of her. The advantages of this is:

• We know the space well.
• Our actor should be in school at the same time.
• We can film whenever we want if we need to.

Some disadvantages we could face when using this location:

• The space is usually used as a quiet study area so we will have to book the space out in advance or use the people who have come to study as extras in the office.
• There could be disruptions from other students.

 

The Tube


We briefly use the tube to show her sad, lonely way to work. We aren't certain on what tube line we will film on but it is likely we will film on our way to Southbank or Winter Wonderland. In order to film on the underground we had to write a letter to TFL, here is the letter we sent:

Dear TFL,

We are Media Studies students from St Anne's Catholic High School for Girls and we are writing to you on the hope of filming on one of your tube lines. As part of our coursework we need to film a music video and would like to film a small part on the underground.

We would greatly appreciate you granting us permission. Please reply soon.

Millfield Theatre

We wanted to include contemporary dancers into our chorus. We are using the Performing Arts School Chantelle attends, Platinum. However, when we made our rough cut we found the contemporary dancing didn't fit in with the conventions of our music video so we have decided to cut it.




London Southbank and Winter Wonderland

We also decided to use the Southbank and Winter Wonderland as romantic places to show their love for each other and to Also we decided to film just in front of iconic stereotypical places in london so that the audience is comfortable and knowledgeable of the surroundings. Also to attract foreign audiences as the iconic images are a great attraction.We also used these locations during the night to show a contrast between what its like for them in the day and in the night.
