Arlington Road Notes
Arlington Road Notes
Ø
Dark light when something is about to happen.
Ø
Over the shoulder shot in fast driving scenes.
Ø
Music which matches the pace of the movie.
Ø
There was a point where killings were taking
place and you could only hear hints of what they were saying but the rest was
sound effects.
Ø
The camera moved alongside the action.
Ø
They also used point of view shots.
Ø
Also the use of shadows shows that something bad
is about to happen. They also use establishing shots and when something is
going fast they do extreme close ups.
Ø
There is a few times when the audience feels
uncomfortable because of extreme close ups.
Ø
They also under-light the face a lot and show
many of the facial expressions when needed.
Ø
They use a lot of movement at the beginning
which shows confusion.
Ø
A lot of two person shots.
Ø
Establishing shots used when trying to show
where they are at that point in time.
Ø
The lesson was about bombing in the beginning
foreshadowing what is going to happen at the end.
Ø
Crane shot in the study to give an over view

Preliminary Task
Nicole,Chantelle, rosette,Emma from Alan Riley on Vimeo.
These are my two preliminary tasks, the aim of this was to
gain some camera skills and experience in using the camera for the first time.
We had to film someone entering a room and having a conversation while sitting
down. It was an exciting experience as we were worried about shaky camera work.
We had to demonstrate the 180 degree rule, match on action, shot revers shot
and two shot. We also had mid-shots and close ups on the face when speaking. It
was at first quite a challenging thing to do as we had to work out which way to
position the camera however; on getting used to using the camera we were able
to work out how to position the camera correctly. After filming the editing was
prepared using Adobe Premier Pro CS5 which was also a new programme for me to
get used to however we learnt to use the different features and so were able to
learn new skills. Then we uploaded it to Youtube so as to get it into a
suitable format to be posted onto our blog. Overall I think doing the
preliminary task was a helpful thing to do as it allowed us to gain skills in
not only using the camera but in the editing process needed afterwards and this
experience has enabled me to be more aware of things which I do when filming
the real film sequence.

These preliminary tasks were very good. I liked them because
it ran smoothly and I liked the way the shots moved from one face to another.
There is also contrast between the two tasks as we can see that in the second
one there is more movement and is more zoomed in to see the face of people speaking.
